Day 2 in the winter ice storm

We had a wintry mix of sleet and snow and rain coming down last night and while the sun is supposed to come out later today, this morning it was 16 degrees and the inch of ice is now covered by a layer of white snow! We continue to have power although 80% of Fayetteville is without and not expected to have it again until Saturday. We are blessed to have the heat and functioning cafeteria in our building still going strong.

Here is an example of how the icicles have grown overnight.

One of the biggest dangers on campus is the falling limbs. Many trees have uprooted and branches have dropped in the roads.

I think we can officially ice skate in our backyard now! (But we can't exit through the back gate, it is frozen shut)

This poor tree is just buckling down under the weight of the ice. This is the same tree that I posted a picture of yesterday in our courtyard in front of the building. A lot happened in 24 hours!
