With the MLK holiday weekend we decided to hop in the car and take a ride! We wanted to visit our grad school friend, Matt at his new home/job on Washington University's campus in St. Louis. So after 5 1/2 hours of the ipod shuffle we arrived late Friday night. Saturday Matt gave us a tour of the campus (and a good workout)!

This campus building was completed just in time for the world's fair in 1904 and hosted the administrative offices.

On Sunday we got out and explored the city a bit more. One of the main attractions was the infamous Arch. We explored the museum that is beneath the arch highlighting the westward expansion and Lewis and Clark's journey. I appreciated the journal entries talking about their excitement to see the Pacific Ocean!

Another must-visit location in St. Louis is the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. We took a brew tour that was about an hour and took us through the different stages of production all the way to the packaging plant. We also got to see the stables on location for the clydesdale horses. The tour was free and included a stop at the hospitality room where we could sample what was on tap.
