Lyndsy's Job News!

Some of you know that I had applied for my supervisor's position back in February and have been going through the interview process on the phone (5/7) and campus visit (5/21). This past week has unfolded in an unexpected way, but I feel blessed for the provision. Last year when I was hired, my office put in a position upgrade request with HR to change my role from Program Coordinator (classified) to Student Development Specialist (non-classified). Because this has to come from the state it has been a silent process on the burner all year. Well five days after I interviewed for the ASG position here, the approval for my position upgrade came through! This made my interviewing opportunity a lateral movement instead of a promotion, so things definitely changed.

After talking with my Director I am authentically happy to continue working in my role (with a promotion!). Our vacation this last week was a great time of reflection for me and thinking about my future at the University of Arkansas. I saw myself being able to grow more in the student organization area as it is a goldmine for possibility right now. With the position upgrade this sealed our family’s decision to remain here for Jonathan to start PhD work in the fall, committing us to at least another five years. Considering all those factors I feel confident in how things have unfolded and my new Assistant Director title (salary and benefits!) will start July 1st
