Philly

So part of our March madness included travel time to Philadelphia, PA for our annual NASPA conference (that's the professional association for student affairs that we are both a part of). Jonathan headed out earlier in the week- a Tuesday- to set up shop with the Housing department interview table to recruit new hall directors for Arkansas. He spent 4 1/2 days interviewing before the conference even began, it was exhausting, but I think he has a good endurance for it.

Friday of that week Heath and I headed out together to join him in the big city! Armed with my moby wrap and baby einsitein in the macbook just in case, we had two 2-hour flights to make it out there. Heath was a champ. He charmed everyone in the terminal and then slept for approximately 1 hour 50 minutes of each flight. The best part of landing in Philly was that we met up with my dad who flew in from CA to hang with the little man all week!

Heath and Opa had the best time together. It did not take them any time to warm up to one another and be the best of buds. A daily highlight for them was to take a trip to the hotel pool. Here is a short clip of them having great times on our second day.

One of the greatest things we enjoyed about having my dad around was that we got to actually hang out with our friends, and spend the evenings checking out Philly's finest karaoke bars and such. Here we are with a few of our Baylor friends- so great to catch up! Dad and Heath actually ate with us, but once it started to get about bedtime- aka their swim time- Opa said 'well we are gonna head out- have a good night!' It was awesome.

Another fun video of Heath and Opa- playing on the bed together. This is why it is good to have an Opa- he loves having this rough and tumble boy time.

I was thankful that on the return flight home J and I were together- along with Adam and Michael which was an added bonus of entertainment for Heath to be social. The Philly airport had a cool kids play area by our gate so Heath checked out the planes, learned how to fuel up, and radio from the cockpit.

It was a great trip had by all!
