So Heath's daycare was having their annual fundraiser event tonight- Chicken Dinner on the Run! They make up chicken dinners in to-go boxes and we have a drive through lane for families to pick up their pre-purchased dinners. One of the boxes we checked when we applied to Central's Center for Children was that we would help participate in their fundraising. So when they asked us to donate $5 for the supplies, we donated. When they asked Heath to sell ten tickets, he friend-raised and sold nineteen. When they asked for volunteers to help the night-of, I signed up for traffic directing duty.
What I didn't

(Apparently wearing the chicken hat was in the fine print of my volunteer duties.)
Also, did not sign up for the hail storm that came 30 minutes into my shift, producing drops the size of ping pong balls. Don't believe me? Here is a glimpse-
I noticed a few things standing on the street for 90 minutes: people drive too fast down my son's daycare street, people multi-task too much while driving (one woman had a cigarette in one hand while talking on her cell with the other and then used the smoking hand to wave at me), EVERYONE loves to smile and wave at the mom on the corner with the chicken on her head. =) All in all, it was a GREAT night. And I'm glad that Heath is too young to be embarrassed by me.
The chicken was really, really good! We enjoyed having a quick supper when we got home!
