Working Mamma

When you work in student affairs, it is a lifestyle. It is easier to live out work/life integration than work/life balance (still not sure what that is). Having a family and working in this field can definitely be challenging, but also entirely rewarding as we get to expose students to our marriage and our family and someone that is younger than 18 (which you kind of forget exists when you are on a college campus 24-7). And in return we get to expose Heath to a wonderful group of intelligent young adults who are always eager to give him high 5s or teach him a handshake, walk with him to explore campus, and generally just love on him. I also feel really grateful that in my work at the international center I am able to share with Heath a variety of cultures and foods and languages. This month I am in orientation season as we welcome ~800 new international students to campus. When possible, I like to include Heath in those programming events. Last night was a rec night in our student center where there is bowling, pool tables, ping pong and much more.
