Family Reunion in Phoenix- part 1

You've probably heard us talk about Uncle Adam on here before. For those of you who don't know who we are talking about and are trying to remember an Adam Manz or Henkelmann, let me share. Adam is our colleague from the University of Arkansas who joined the Housing staff at the same time as Jonathan. He has been our teammate in kickball and trivia nights, a fellow concert-goer, band member, a dining and cooking partner, co-presenter and work-venter, and for the first year of Heath's life he lived 100 yards away in the attached residence hall. Adam braved the elderly woman to do water aerobics with me in the school pool when I was pregnant and was the first person to arrive at the hospital after Heath was born. (He also brought us smoothies when I was laboring at home and brought J chikfila in the hospital when we realized he needed to eat).

I don't know that there is one word that can capture the worth of our friend and what he means in our life, so we just call him Uncle Adam.

Heath was as excited to spend time with Uncle Adam as we were. We intentionally got a larger hotel suite so we could pack in the family with my parents in one room, us in the other, and Adam in the living room sofa bed. It was wonderful to spend the extra moments in the same space after the conference day ended, and start our days together at the hotel breakfast.
