Our lil sweet pea

We have had fun following the size comparison chart in our What to Expect book and these images on thebump.com really help to give us a visual. Last week the baby was the size of a sweet pea and although this week it is up to a blueberry we have decided that we still like calling it sweet pea and may just continue to do so until it can be referred to as a he or a she.

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

  1. I was thinking the same thing! You should just call him or her sweet pea until - well, forever, I think. And even if its a little Jonathan, I may call him sweet pea still either way!

My friends were pregnant with twins and when they saw the first ultrasound they were the size of peanuts - so we all (including the parents) still call them "the peanuts" to this day!

I like "sweet pea" for baby manz! :)
