A traveling month

We have been on the move in October- traveling to our neighboring states of Oklahoma and Mississippi. In an effort to keep this post about our non-pregnancy life I will just say that I have been feeling tired and these trips have certainly not been a good example of me 'resting.'

Sunday October 18th U2 came to Norman, OK for a great concert. Jonathan and I drove with two of our friends out to see them in our $55 general admission 'seats.' We left Fayetteville at 9am and got to Norman and had lunch with our friend Katie Treadwell from grad school. We made it to the line at about 2:00pm. Our tickets were for the standing floor between the stage and the stands so only the first 2500 would get in the 'inner circle' that we called the nest. We were about 800-1000 in line and by 5:00pm the line had grown immensely. We packed lawn chairs so for those three hours we did get to sit. Once the doors opened there was a crazy rush to get a great spot and we felt pretty satisfied with our positioning between the main stage in front of The Edge and the circle stage that Bono walked around on. Unfortunately Black Eyed Peas opened for them at this show- a band we are less than impressed with- they sang about their lady lumps and we held our breath for U2 to take the stage. The show was amazing- Jonathan could tell you more musically appreciative thoughts but it was good. The concert ended after 11pm and by the time we were in the car and made it to the highway it was already 12:20am- lots of people! Jonathan was a saint and drove a sleeping car back to Fayetteville arriving home at 5am- just in time for us all to make it in to work that day and not have to take vacation time. (Not the smartest decision- but a once in a lifetime thing, right?)

This past weekend we chaperoned a trip that student government hosts every year called Rollin' with the Razorbacks. We took two charter busses full of students to the away football game vs. Ole Miss Saturday in Oxford, Mississippi. For this one we met up on Friday night at 11:30pm and pulled away at 1am to head to the game. We made it in to our tailgating spot about 9:30am and had sandwiches before the 11:20am kickoff. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were good- Arkansas didn't play their best and we ended up with the loss. By the time we got out of town it was 4pm and had 8 more hours before we pulled up at home. The students were great- had an awesome time and brought their spirit. The only thing that would have improved the trip was a win, but what can you do. I told my office that I have now served my time on this trip and don't plan on every doing it again- but it was fun. Just some hard short naps on a charter bus makes you thankful for the bed when you get home.

Enjoying the football game and afterwards- enjoying a nap!

So you'd think we would have planned this better but this coming weekend again we will be traveling, this time to Tulsa, OK to see the David Crowder Band in concert. We are excited to see some Waco familiars and this drive is only two hours on a Friday night. I'm hoping that means we have the rest of the weekend to recover!
