Two Months!

Aug. 3. 2010

Heath turns two months old today and we have seen so much growth this past month, not just physically but developmentally. His appointment with the pediatrician is tomorrow so we'll come back and update his stats here afterwards. Here are a few highlights of the past month:

- After a rockin 4th of July party with Vintage friends, we had to say goodbye to my mom. Heath was sad to part with his Oma after 4 awesome weeks of living with us and being a HUGE help, but we survived the airport drop off, and the days alone afterwards.

- Jonathan went on an overnight retreat for work for 3 days and 2 nights, giving Heath and I a chance to go it alone- and we survived that too.

- Lyndsy's best friend Kaylee flew into town from Portland for a week long visit and helped us learn the art of the calming reflex as we watched the happiest baby on the block dvd and tried out the 5 s's.

- Heath loves to be outside, regardless of the temperature and it acts as a good calming agent whenever we step out. Now if the AR 100+ heat wave will calm down we will do it more often!

- This past month he has really grown in his talking and smiling skills. We have caught a lot of it on video and camera to share. These times when he sits on our legs and coos is just the best!

- While Heath has always moved his arms a lot, this past month it has become more controlled. He has discovered his hands and loves jamming them in his mouth. He is getting closer to finding his thumb to suck on, but mostly sucks on one end of a fist.

- His legs have also gotten much stronger and he likes to try and stand up or kick off of us when we hold him. He is supporting his neck really well and his favorite way to be held is leaning back looking up. He kicked in a rib of mine this week- it hurt. He has also been swinging in the swing front to back now instead of cradle and he really likes that.

- Heath started making bubbles in his mouth just last week, which increases the drool factor. He smiles with the bubbles in his mouth- it is adorable.

- Heath started taking big baths in the tub with daddy and really loves the skin time. This week he stood in the tub as we held him up and went under water up to his chest. He really likes the calming water time, we hate to take him out.

- Heath has begun to recognize and understand what he sees- mainly the cameras and my breasts. When the red video light goes on he begins to stare right at it, making it difficult to capture his prior actions. When I'm getting my bra unhooked he stares and smiles and is calm if he has been fussing. (I'm also learning this means I have to put it away when he's done)!

- This week I started back to work and will have Heath with me until his daycare begins Aug. 19th. The staff love seeing him, but it's definitely a handful to balance. I'm working from home with him when possible.

  1. You are such a great mom! I appreciate having seeing how educated you are and how diligently you struggle to do what is best for that little cuteness!
