We have a Walker!!

We have been told many times that 'every child is different.' As we go through developmental markers with Heath, people say things like that to us a lot. But people have also told us repeatedly that 'once they start walking they will never look back.' Well to this point I would revert to point 1, every child is different. Two or three months ago Heath began taking 1-2 steps if he could then follow those steps by falling into the couch or coffee table. Crawling has still been his transportation mode of choice (well that and the city bus to school).

This week we were at home doing nothing special and I called Heath to come over to me- away from the couch- and out into the unknown space of the kitchen, and he came. He took about five steps to reach me and stayed standing the whole time. We looked at each other. Did he just do that? Do it again. He did. And so for the last five days or so Heath is now preferring his walk to his crawl and will take on average 5-8 steps each time. He will still crawl and he will hold on to things as he gets confidence to then stand on his own again.

It's been fun to watch him grow in that confidence and see his face light up as our faces light up watching him. So after taking this in for ourselves all week, the grandparents kindly reminded us- share a video! So here Heath is today after the Steeler win.
