Reese Jean Manz joined us Saturday, February 8th at 8:50am after 5 hours of active labor. Our midwife team came over at 6:50am, just as Oma and Heath exited to the Chinn's house. I was grateful to have the AquaDoula tub rented and set up in our living room for pain relief. Reese was posterior (sunny side up) and put lots of pressure on my lower back. We were undecided going into the day if I'd deliver in the tub and if J would be in with me, but that is where the most relief came and felt like the right place to be.
After 30 minutes of pushing, I was told to 'reach down and grab your baby.'
It began snowing just as Reese joined us!
Reese weighed in at 8lbs 14oz (right after a big poop which we think could have put her at 9lbs!). She measured 21" long.
We are so grateful to have the blessing of a healthy home birth with a wonderful team of support.
This has been a peaceful week of transitioning to a family of four, we feel in large part to Reese's calm arrival at home.
Yay! So thankful that things went more quickly for you this time. I remember Heath's birth being a real marathon! Congrats to you all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie! Marathon is correct! Really grateful that birth #2 was 1/6 of the time. :)
